Do they get them mostly jigging or with tip-ups? I'm new to the area and I am just trying to get a feel for the lay of the land  :-\

Yes.... but everyone I know usually targets the 'eyes with tipups and jigs for perch... I would like to try jigging for walleyes using my vex.

if your looking to catch panfish on bigbay try the middle of the bay go straight out from right awayabout 150 yards start there in 7 feet of water work your way to the mouth of the creek in about 5 feet of water . if there not there try the shore line where you get on at the whole shore not just a single spot about 30 yards off the land you well pick a few if there just slow. use rockers, demons and bettles, chartuses and orange are great colors for there.
watch out for the bigbay shuffle.
fill your buckets with quality not quantity and enjoy the conversations over heard of how good a fisherman you are................... ....

Let me know if you have any success this time of year. Ive never been skunked there till this past sunday. I couldnt even mark any on the vex. Tried all over the bay. I know the importance of mobility in BB. Just never fished it this late.

yep.. thats the south shore area I always talk/ask about, and its no good right now. Edges are shot.... and I would not have trusted the ice before this warm spell.

That was probably me that Scout57 was talking to the other day at Williams Beach. I cut 6 or 7 holes checking the ice. I stopped about 150yds offshore. That far out there was 2" of good ice.

I fished off of Sylvan beach today. There was anywhere from 4 to 12 inches of ice, mostly all good and clear. I only marked a few fish in the 4 hours I was there. Very windy too.

Good to hear there's ice... bummer to hear of the lack of fish.  Funny how they're there one day and gone the next.  Were there many guys out today?

Just got back from Sylvan a little while ago. Marked a few. None bit. Its a little hairy getting out there. The first 150 yards or so are ice drifts. Just be careful there were a few soft spots. After the drifts there was some black ice with allot of spider webbing. I sat out for a couple hours drilled about 6-8 holes. everyone was 6-8" Met a few guys guys and introduced them to the IS. The ice was moaning as I was leaving. Seems to be making ice pretty good.
