Headed up this weekend, any advice for jigging lakers, medium rod with 6lb test? Bucktails spoons jigging raps? Never Jigged for lakers before

We always used 6lb fireline and an 8lb-10lb leader or just 8lb mono.   Never had a problem landing fish up to 16lbs with that set up.    Spoons and Plastics always worked the best for us.

Well.  Now I see why I didn't catch any last time out.

I was fishing a black and silver sombrero, and clearly they were hitting the red with yellow pattern.

Posting  from the  ice. Navionics let me down today,  told me I was in the 30 to 40 band. Very Windy with blowing snow so I took a chance and set up, had to put in the anchors to keep from getting blown back to Glimmerglass. Then I checked and found that I was only over 15 feet! Bunch of hardy folks on the lake that seem to be working their way farther out. Nothing at all where I am. Most places Navionics is spot on. Not here. Know better next time. Not looking forward to the walk off!

Pretty sure they lower the water level in the fall. Don't know how much but could explain some of the difference

Navionics has been really weird the past couple weeks. Twice, out on Oneida Lake it told me I was no where near where I was, LOL. Seems like it takes quite a bot of searching before it really locks in. But once it locks in, it is pretty damn accurate.

Nice pics  dont look like they are nice and fat now for the most this is what weve been seeing ,they say alwifes are in low cycle if they dont find food they will be food . Yes there are still some fat ones but more of what you see is the norm . Good job guys , did you take any to eat if so whats inside , and yes i know there are alot of things better to eat but some people eat them not just c&r!!!

From what i have heard, the DEC thought there were too many alwifes so they introduced the walleye to harvest some of them. The walleys did such a good job that the alwife is praticly extink in otsego. Now there is no forage for the lakers. They have to come out of there comfort zone to feed on perch and what ever. What a shame for a fantistic lake. Maybe there is another reason too.

When we were coming off the lake we got a chance to talk with college the lakers will prob never get back to where they were with the zebra muscles in the lake they depleted all the nutrients which killed off all the alewifes they are done. but the smelt and the ciscos are coming back all the lakers that we used to target in deep water wont be big again if you want to find the bigger lakers  you need to be in the shallow there main food source is perch now, the lakers you find deep are starving they havent figured out the new food sourceand from what they say most of them will die unless they figure out that they need to look for something elese doesnt look good for the browns to but the walleye should do good guess time will tell
