I hope the snow stays away in the next few days to give the new ice a chance. its the first time in a couple years that the deep water has ice over it. I will be checking daily. nothing like fishing the home lake 5 min away instead of driving all over the state for hard water fishing. Time for some 1 lb plus perch

Agree with that ... been a long time since Owasco's had solid ice from end to end!

Please keep updates on ice coming!

Thanks.

Someone on reports and conditions page reported having a family member who lives on lake. Seems entire lake is froze over. Keep your fingers crossed boys. This could be our year.  ;D ;D

I posted about the family member. Don't want to mislead anyone. NO SAFE ICE or anything. My report came from a non-ice fishing person so take that for what it is. Let's hope she was right and the whole lake is locked!

I just posted on reports and conditions, its 95% locked up. a light coat of snow on the entire lake. there is a open area between Wycoff and Ensinore. its the 170 fow area. NO heavy snow or wind and we should be on it next week. I dont think its ready for probing yet tho. Thats as of 3:30 today.

I followed the the lock up on Owasco all week. I really think its a few days yet for the deep water. I'm going out on the northwest side in a few if my ride gets here. will post my results. Stay safe guys dont want to see any helicopters circling Ensinore today.

The ice is in good shape on the north west end. 4 1/2 - 5inches for the most part we did find one spot that was closer to 3 1/2. caught a few perch its nice to be back on the home lake. the fishing was good until it clouded up and the wind shifted. there are better days to come.

Fished the south end today. Had 3.5'' at 75 fow. Slow day. A few jumbo perch and a couple missed flags in 15 fow. Moved over to buck point in the afternoon and stayed for an hour. Slow there too. But still a great feeling to be out on the home lake. We'll be in great shape for deep water this week and weekend.

I hear a lot of point names on owasco but am not familiar with them. Bucks petersons, Faye's?  I am somewhat familiar with the area on west side but not those names. Are they street names near these areas or just names locals have given to them?

No not after street names. For the most part they were named after the original homestead owners.

The print were mine and a buddy. Thought someone had to be 1st to test . Drilled three holes, last 30 yards or so out  Went from  3" to 2 or less in a hurry. Still small patches open water out in middle. Very clear ice. That is only couple days worth so the cold weather should set thing up soon, but still would test as you walked out. May look fine in one spot then could find next to nothing. Fished south end, had some spirts of perch on jigs but all dinks, kept none. No tipup action and we had 8' to 40' covered.
