2010 Lake George Fish Tally (Keepers only)
« on: Jan 13, 2010, 12:59 PM »
just thought it would be interesting to know how many fish us iceshanty members take from the king this year, wether it be for food or trophy. more of a numbers game. nothing to do with location of catch.

1/12/10

50 perch
 2  gills

Awesome catch, waiting to fish the bays but don,t want to go when people are crazy mad toget on the ice. Probably during the week is the best chance.  Great fishing and I will post stats when I can get up there.

Probably what happens after eating 142 perch, troutaddict33. My family loves perch fillets, but 10-15 decent sized(10") perch will be plenty for a meal. For a family of three, and I have enough left to give to my Mom the next morning.

Cool thread bird. I know I've taken around 100. I can't remember yesterday though let alone last week. Tomorrow should be another half benji if I'm not being lazy. I have a feeling this thread might tick some people off. Especially when Bird is posting #'s in the 1000's.
Dull Hooks- You won't ever catch me selling an ounce of Adirondack Gold. I eat a ton of fish. My family depends on me alone to bring the supply for a few fish fries a year. I'm pretty sure bird shares the same views.

if i'm jigging i usually fill about 1/2 a bucket w/ perch for a limit. running minnows i'll sometimes get close to a full bucket. i prefer the 1/2 bucket of 50. you can keep those 13" mercury, heavy metal laden fish. i like those 8-9" ;D. the perch in the king are feeding more on scuds than minnows, that's another trophic level lower than the "jumbos" chasing minnows on mudflats so there is less bioaccumulation.

I understand where you all are coming from.. I do the same , I am the only one at home that eats fish so my limit on keeping is much lower. I do give some away to folks who don't get a chance to go anymore.

Never had a chance to fish the king.. But so far this season I've kept about 30 perch on my local waters, and thats after going out several times.  Didn't intend on bringing this thread down the terlet , just asking because I don't sell mine either. ;D

bird21s - Your killin it!  I have taken roughly ~100 perch this year from friends lake.  The only downside to keeping so many fish on a Sat or Sun is having all the guts laying around until trash pickup friday.  Usually I triple bag it and freeze the guts in the shed till friday, but these warm temps make that a little difficult and stinky!

Great job on the Perch everyone
This thread is going great so far...I am glad for that. There seems to be too much BS and animosity among Ice Fisherman that is just PURE wasted energy ;)
Let's keep this clean...because I am pulling up a seat to follow this thread. The King has some dandy Jumbos from what I have seen and heard about

I have yet to visit...but I am sure I will be walking on the frozen wonderland some day!!!

Take care and be safe!!!

Chock up another 44. For the sake of the thread I'll just say I came in to today with 100. Nothing compares to the feast I just had. Obviously 99 percent of the meat went in the freezer, which is quickly running out of room because of all my old ladies crap. Either my slot limit needs to go up significantly or some of you guys need to take some Lean Cuisine meals off my hands. I piled up on the crappie and gills in Champlain early ice. Lil help guys.

no bird they are very nice perch, glad to see some nice ones,, i have been there a ton of times and love to jig,,everytime i go there i see guys taking buckets and buckets of perch and when i look there all 6-7 inches..personally i wldnt get out of bed for perch that big. I mean everyone to there own but that pic is prolly the biggest perch i have seen so far from lg...congrates..
Yep. Now I remember you. We're fishing Harris because it's the only spot we can get on. I remember that silly thread last year. When the other bays finally freeze up get away from Harris or walk way out. It's no secret that Lake George is one of the best perch fisheries in the state. I've fried up plenty of pigs from the king. A pig to me is 11" and up. I'll reiterate what was said on that thread last year. Get away from the crowd dude. You'll find some pigs.

I threw another 42 in the bucket today. Not bad for 4 hours on the ice. It took a lil bit to géT them going in the middle of the day. I had to go super small with a small black, red, and white marmooska. I was on fire once I figured it out. Another awesome meal today and a big fish fry at mom's this weekend. That's what its all about.
