New guy learning the sport with my son, we fished Clear Lake last weekend also. Had good luck Saturday for us and Sunday was slow. Is there a secret set-up for the yellows I kept hearing people talking about catching 40 - 50 but we only caught a few. Caught a couple nice crappie on Saturday.

Thanks for any info

That would be cool and thanks for offer but not sure what are plans are yet, we live north side of Ankeny and takes us 1 1/2 hrs drive time. Still learning how to move around also in our Yukon we just got last weekend. It is not very quick to move around with wind. We went over to Macintosh area Sunday when we spotted all the huts in the area. I think we were late getting there which was around 11.

We fished just off the boat ramp in Ventura not sure of name early Sunday am.

This was our first success at catching anything on clear lake so we had fun.

I fish Clear weekly and will usually be around if you decide to come up again sometime...I was out Friday and came back with 120 yellows in a couple hours along with a few Master Angler white bass I threw back

If I'm not marking yellows on the flasher I won't even set anything up.  There are days when I won't jig a hole if I'm not marking any.  I'm never on a hole for a full minute if I haven't marked a fish.

You can send him a personal message! If you found it, that is pretty neat! Not to many people would make the extra effort! God bless!!!

Hotrod I used the farmers access the past two weekends. Wasn't near as busy as Macintosh or lorentzen but I punched a whole lot of holes and didn't do very well.

What is weather like in Clear Lake, we are getting rain today in central Iowa. Not looking good around here until the artic air shows up Sunday

I noticed two sheds on Farmer's Sunday, we drove there just to check it out for fist time. Not much parking at that site.

I only noticed one 4 x 4 unit driving on the ice, it was a Wilcraft that could float if it dropped in. pretty cool looking machine

Just got back! Ice is in great shape! 6-8"+ on little lake! Big lake not so sure, haven't ventured over there yet! Bite was a little tougher than last weekend! Crappies were scattered! 5" perch, and 8-10" walleyes filled the slow crappie bite! Better than getting skunked!

No problem. Good luck! I heard yellows were doing pretty good today! We never went and tried em. We were going strictly for crappies! It wasn't even slushy, four wheelers cruising around all over the little lake!

i think were going to leave the wheeler at home.   and im thinking were going to try the yellows.  we wont be up there before 9am and will leave by 4pm.    just have to get on the ice though!!   our liver spot we normally fish is still open water!

We only caught one crappie today, we are new to the sport and lake but everyone we have talked to is super helpful. We hit the yellows around 7:30 and had a blast.

Cold and windy today, staying home tomorrow

Did anyone do good today? I fished all over little lake and had a very poor time finding fish. Ended with 40 Medioce sized yellows...only 2 over 9" rest were 8ish and one decent crappie. Started ato Ventura and worked my way across the basin of Little into the dredge cuts then zigzaged to the 25 ft hole by the dome house...then fished all over McIntosh to the channel. All my fish were caugh from 9-10. Marked maybe 5 fish if that the rest for the day. Saw someone driving on the ice today and three permies are out

i caught 4 perch from 12:30 to 3pm.....  didnt move though.   just parked at about 19 feet in the basin.   my buddy kept saying that truck was going to go in....  fishing was slow in the deeper water,  at a bad time of the  day.

The truck that was driving today was a really old brown F150....I remember last year hearing about someone in a similar truck repeatedly driving across the channel. I never saw it happen but I'm wondering if it's the same person

Lots of sheds just out from Macintosh boat ramp, just a beginner but every time we have fished on this lake there are tons of people in that area.
