Anybody see anybody out there yet? Hoping at least snug harbor would be ready this weekend.

Well drove down there myself. Lots of open water. Actually saw 3 or 4 boats out....Snug harbor was iced over still but only couple inches thick.

I don't fish over that way, but thanks for the effort and the report!  It's nice to be able to follow what the conditions all across the state...

Muskegon Lake takes a long time to freeze.
Be careful on it.
There is current and ships come thru all winter and really messes it up.
I usually wait until the smaller lakes bite dies out before I get on Muskegon.
But I really like fishing it.
Merry Christmas!

Yea with these cold temps most spots should be good to go in a week or so. Hoping to hit snug harbor tomorrow and maybe 2nd street next week. Merry Christmas

Never fished Muskegon lake, been wanting to but I’m from kzoo, is it worth a drive up for some perch? Honestly would even know where to go other than follow the crowds lol

Muskeon is worth the drive.
You can fish about anywhere and catch a perch.  It might be a small perch, but the lake is loaded.
Goto Shoreline B&T get bait and what ever you forgot and just fish the launch north of the shop.
Fish anywhere from 25 to 50 FOW
Within sight of the Clipper.
Great place to start

I like to fish second st. If I can. You can pretty much catch everything there. Perch, walleye, pike. It’s a good idea to set tip ups out where ever you fish on Muskegon. I usually get bait at Snug Harbor Outfitters.

Went out to snug today. Lots of small perch. Surprisingly no gills. Only kept 4 perch. Lost nice pike at hole.   😫

What kind of ice were you seeing at Snug? Heard that folks are fishing close to the launch but I was wondering if there's much for clear, hard ice or if its mainly snow-pack white ice?

4 to 5 good inch’s. There were guys out quite a ways. I’d say maybe half way across. Headed down there again in a few.

I'm looking to go hit Snug in the AM but if anyone's getting out elsewhere on the lake and wants to meet up, PM me. I've got a power auger, vex, rods/tackle, and will bring beer/bait  everyone I fish with is gone for the weekend and I've only fished Snug area on Muskegon

I've heard there were guys out there today but only 100 yards or so from shore. Just be careful if you decide to go, a spud would be advisable.

Went out to Sand Docks this morning. Good 8-10" of ice. (Didn't actually measure.)

Marked fish on the bottom but couldn't get them to commit. Ended up catching a Cisco which was a first for me about half way down the water column. Notta on perch today tho.

I was near the Clipper yesterday afternoon.
Only ones out there,  which is wierd
Didn't get out to afternoon
Hoping the wind would die down
It didn't.  It was blowing hard.
Not much of a bite.
5 nice perch in about 2.5 hours
Lost a nice fish after a brief battle
That's fishing

Sand docks still good after warm up. A good 6 to 7 inch’s of solid ice. Did very well today with some nice perch.

nice catch.....I wondered what the larger suspended fish were. I'm guessing that that whitefish came on spikes or something small....not a minnow.

Good job out in the hurricane!! We will be hitting it tomorrow and Sat somewhere out there.

Hey guys.  This weekend I am looking to go to Muskegon Lake for the first time ever (pending ice conditions).  I have been reading and hearing a lot about the sand docks.  When I google that it brings me to the marina between Lake Michigan and Muskegon.  Is this correct?  I am trying to target perch.  Still very new ice fishing so knowing where to start is still a struggle.
