Best way to get to Houghton Lake from SE Michigan?

Does anybody have a good way to get to Houghton from the Detroit area? I did a mapquest but sometimes those lead you all over the place and its not always the most direct route.

My first stop will be Lymans near the southshore of the lake.

Is it as simple as 75 North to M-55 to Lymans?

It's Houghton Lake, not Houghton.  Houghton is in the UP.  Lyman's is a couple miles East of US-27 on M-55.  DNR launch is just a bit farther East.  How about Highways 75 to 10 to 27.

That's what I was thinking of doing.  Seems to be the most direct route there.

I-75 to M-55 (exit #227) is the way we usually go! There are more scenic routes but none more direct or faster.......
