How Far North do I have To go

What I need to know is how far north do I have to go
for some safe ice? Leaving sunday,my son & I till monday!
Looking for a room & safe ice! Before we go back to school
& work,looking to drive 2 hours or more. PM me thanks John!~

Well Cooley, just came down from a FULL day on the ice at Fletchers Floodwaters, by Alpena/Hillman and they have 6-8" of ice there.  What's even more wicked is that there were trucks, cars, atvs, arcos and snowmobiles out there too!!!  It was crazy!!!

9 hours of fishing and 9 flags: 1 - 28" pike, 1 - 26" pike, 1 - 22" pike and a lot of mouthing by the other fish.

And yesterday I was at relatives by Kzoo and the shoreline was water, but could stand on the lake if I went off their dock...didn't go out to far.  Good luck and hope your hands get slimey.
