Title: bait
Post by: dperch on Dec 28, 2012, 03:16 PM
I have never ice fished for bass and was wondering if minnows have to be live because a pond I know of doesn't allow live bait.  I was going to use dead bait but are they not as effective as live bait? Do other bait or lures work well for largemouth? Thanks.

Dead bait will work but in my experience not quite as effective. I would try jigging for them with any metal spoon.

If you have to use dead bait try using a wind tipup, it'll move your bait and make it look a little more lively.

An un-tipped Lindy Darter works good for bass.
