What is the most common line used on a inline ice reel for trout and pan fish?
I can’t say what line is best, but I use a Uzuri Hybrid in 4# test on my trout rods, and have never been disappointed in its performance. Price is reasonable too!
Yo-Zuri. I have had good luck with this line as well.
I've been using the Berkley Trilene Micro Ice for years. Decent price and readily available here vs some of the other ice specific products. No complaints for the same basic applications you speak of.Like others have said, it will really depend on what you like the feel of too. And what you are comfortable with when tying knots.
+1 on this... not sure if it is the "best" line, but the 3-6# works well for my needs, which is mostly panfishing. It also ties/takes knots very well.
Back in the old days when Trilene Microice came in the blue color. Microice does take on knots very well.****There is a rare line called Stroft GTM. # for # it's the strongest mono line out there. Berkley Trilene Microice .18 mm 3# line break 4# 1 oz.Berkley Trilene Microice .23 mm 6# line break 7# 10 oz.Berkley Trilene Microice .25 mm 8# line break 9# 12 oz.Stroft GTM 5X 5.28# test .15 mm line break 5# 10 oz.Stroft GTM 4X 7.9# test .18 mm knot break 7# 2 oz.Stroft GTM 3X 9# test .20 mm knot break 9# 6 oz.Stroft GTM 2X 11.2# test .22 mm line break 10# 4 oz.Comparing same diameter 3# Microice which breaks about 4# to Stroft GTM which breaks about 7# on my fish scale.
Where are you buying stroff
Look at Fly Shops (may have to do online order). From what I am seeing, its mostly used for tippet. But you may have to search for larger spools.
Thanks that's what I'm finding as well. Figure I'll try some on one of my rods this year
I don't see why your line choice would be any different from a spinning or baitcasting reel. I like 8# or 10# braid with a 4# mono leader, but that's just me.
