just wondering if anyone can help me?  I am building a 6x8 shanty that is going to be portable.  I have 2x10x8 for skiis with 2x4 flooring.  I am looking to find the lightest wall to use.

Thanks
Mike

:o OMG!!  That has to be one of the nicest shacks I've seen!!  Well done!!  I thought mine was nice, but now I have to build another one next year  ;D  Will post my pics soon

Mikey

Here's my baby.  This will be its 3rd winter.  It sits on Minnesota's Lake Mille Lacs.  We use it in the summer as well- notice the ac unit above the heater.  That's a queen size bed for the Mrs. and me, we have 2 twins beds on the other loft.  And the last pic is the kitchen and bath.  We love it.

Saw a shack nearby that looked like it was made out of the hard pink foam insulation. It was ugly, but I heard it was warm...

Open Air Comfort

I decided to build this sled while I was waiting for the ice this year.As it turned out the ice was ready before I was.
The main construction of the sled was made from birch ply and trimmed out with solid cherry that I had laying around. I used two small down hill skis for the main runners and made the center ski from 1/4" birch ply and other materials. The center ski is set higher than the other skis so it only comes into play when the snow is soft.
The top frame work was made using Baltic birch and has plastic inserts for the four powder coated aluminum supports. On the sled, the supports are in sleeves that have 3" compression springs in them to maintain tension on the fabric that's connected to the frame and sled with snaps.
Inside the sled has hangers and brackets so everything is secure. The removable extension arm for the Vex is also made from Baltic birch.
The unit was finished with a wiping stain and several coats of marine grade clear coat.
It also has a good weight balance to it and pulls nicely.

I'm a long time reader and first time poster. When I saw the category for ugliest shack I knew I had to post some pictures

This shack was built by a buddy and me almost 10 years ago in high school. Looking at it now it is purely amazing that it still stands, let alone make it down the road, but it keeps us warm year after year and holds a lot of memories.

Might as well throw mine into the mix.  It's the cab off of a railroad "jigger", used aluminium 4x6 I-beams for the runners with old waterski's as the ski tips.  It pulls real nice behind the snowmobile. It stays on lake Lac du Bonnet in Manitoba.

OK, might as well have our's up here. A group of us got together and built this 12 x 12. All panelized sections. We keep it stacked on shore in the summer and put it out each year as soon as the ice gets safe. Last year was the maiden voyage, took five guys just under four hours to get it up. Maybe three hours to take it off.
This year they did it(I had to work) in 3 hours. Home made wood stove keeps it 70 dgrees even at 25 below.

We even catch a few!!LOL
The greatest thing is the kids can go and stay warm, Makes it easier to get a good day of fishing in.
