Title: Replacement flags?
Post by: Ccbayfisher on Nov 20, 2022, 08:52 AM
Recently bought a bunch of setups but a few did not have the flags/spring poles.  I’ve looked all over this forum and online.  Shirt of finding an exact spec on McMaster care, any ideas?

I’ve lurked on here for far too long—and my son wants to get into this a lot more this year!

I tried these other flag replacements but they would not fit in the tip ups I have.  Even looking online I can’t find the ones I have (which isn’t the best thing).  I’ll check Tom’s in Westford or Merrimac Sports over the next couple weeks as well.

Thanks!

Know anyone that works road construction or a highway department, a vinyl safety flag from a work zone sign is what I used for replacement flags.

Buy a hunters orange vest for cheap. Reflective tape and zip ties. Cut out your flag from the vest. Double fold the material and glue the edges together. Put reflective tape over the edges and then zip tie or glue or tape to the pole

I've got a few older cross stick type tipups that use old cat toys for flags, cheap, replaceable & no mistaking em' for somebody else's when they trip. Spray em w/ sno-seal & they don't freeze either

I'm rebuilding a few cross type traps. Using fluorescent green flagging tape. 2 strips glued to the flag steel.

I've used felt, its fairly cheap and easy to work with.

Any fluorescent colored duck tape.  Just fold over the flag poles and tape together. If you need poles, try taking apart some old windshield wipers.  There are usually 2 steel flats that make good poles.

If they are heritage style traps they sell replacement parts on the website.  Think they'd work for Indian hills as well.

Natick outdoor store has some.  Got a few packs today.  Think 4.99 for 3 with clips to attach.
