Pin fish leaders forum south pond

Pin fish leaders, couple cool ones:

8.5 lb brown from south pond
45” pike from south pond

I guess despite the fact that I am 0 for 5 there, it is well worth another chance next season!

(I have had some success trolling there...)

I’ve heard that they put many broodstock in there - They also get fat on alewives - the lake has outstanding growth rates, that’s why it’s the only designated brown trout water (though Ill never understand how Onota and Wachusett among others never got designated)

I’m way more surprised by the pike - was always skeptical that the state record came from there - but it’s clear big pike are in there

Onota has a better shot at a bigger brown. 5lb browns are almost common out of onota but you have a better shot at a double digit brown out of south but far slower fishing. Biggest for me out of south is a hair under 8lbs but I have spent a lot of time trolling there deep with shiners.
