i was able to find a larger tube jig prbly 4" at a local store... but when i asked about a longer jig head to put in it they didnt have it... a regular jig head hook length would put the hook way up in the tassles... hard to get the minnow on and prbly hard for the fish to get too as well...anyone have a source for a longer hook model? i dont even know if this bigger tube jig will bring more fish.. just thinking it will be more visible... ideas/suggestions? this is for lakers by the way..

Look at buckeye lures and VMC also make a jig head that works good in that situation.

Check any supplier like Tackle Warehouse, or Sportsmans Warehouse. They’ve got em!
-
wow tackle warehouse has all kinds of jig heads... if only i knew the proper name to search for...
-
…just put in a search for 4” tube jig jig heads.

you can always stuff a weight in front and put the jig farther back in the tube.
try some Alkaseltzer chunks or a rattle in that tube if you want attraction. i also stuff my tubes with berkley trout paste.

What you are looki g for id assume is what we call a long shank jig

never heard of fishing with alka seltzer.. does it work i assume it makes some bubbles for a few min?
-
yes and noise from the fizz. my point was to use sound instead of size.
-
I have stuffed alka seltzer into tubes, as well as small sponges soaked in scent. I cannot say it made any difference.

If you look at some on the musky stuff you can easily find tube and hooks in 5”, 6”, 8”, 9”…ect

hey guys its almost that time of year again... and im back on this quest... i thank a few of you for your sources/suggestions but most of those places have minimum orders or stupid shipping for small orders. had a thought about putting the weight forward in the head where it belongs and putting a short wire leader to a hook to get it down in the (tails) of the rubber jig.. was also thinking of tig welding a longer hook onto a normal jig head but im thinking hooks are hardened and im asking for trouble there... any sources or ideas ?
