charger for glow jigs?
« on: Dec 13, 2007, 10:23 AM »
Hey all homebrewers.....

I happen to come across a little charger for jigs and thought it was a better idea since it charged the hole jig instead of half like a flasher.  I was all in till I seen that this thing was like $30 bucks.........so I am working on my own idea so I will keep you all posted...

any one else seen or made one of these?

I just use one of those small LED's that people put on their key chains, they work great, last forever and charge the whole jig.

I think those things are a waste of money, and just another gadget to tote out on the lake.
I just use a small pocket lite or a headlamp if night fishing.
Never needed anything else, and the extra 5-8 seconds it may take is worth it to have something right in my pocket

Yeah, i cant imagine spending $30 for a light that save 2 seconds when i can spend and extra 2 seconds and spend $2.

I use a little Garrity single LED keychain light I got for $5. It works good, is cheap and you can replace the battery.

You got that right, but there are plenty of gadget geeks out there that will just have to have it.
That or they just have the 7 digits on their salary and can play with more toys.

I have a couple of old strobe flash attachments for cameras that work great. They will charge a glow jig in about a 10,000th of a second.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

An old flash off a camera is what I use.  Only thing, do not look into the light. :o

I got a little led lite I use for walking into my deer stand that i pull double duty with to charge my jigs.  Works good for both applications even if it was $9.  I guess that makes it easier for the wife to understand that it is not just for deer hunting.

Most companies give away little promotional key chain LED flashlights. its all you need, they are free/cheap and they last a really long time.

I use the old disposable camera flash.  It would be nice to wire it into a jig box, but the last time I tried something like that, the flash condensor was charged up and it went off in my hand.  I still have a mark where it burned me and that was at least 4 years ago.
