Where can I take my 10yr old nephew this weekend to do some ice fishing? I hit Jackson often in early Feb, not sure if it's still holding safe ice though. I've never fished the mountain lakes but would be willing to drive from Denver if someone has recommendations? Please let me know, thanks!

Lake John and the Delaneys are likely still fine. Was at John 2 weeks ago and 16” or more. Lots of guys driving trucks on it. Fished pretty well too but windy. Granby and neighboring Willow Creek are probably still good. Maybe Wolford. Check out COLORADO Fish Explorer too. Good luck ...use caution.

Called Jackson the other day. Recording said lake was mostly open water and any remaining ice was not safe.

Anything NOT in the hills is done.

Hi Scott - if you post a few more times you'll be able to receive personal messages and I'll give you a few spots where you can park pretty close and avoid a big hike with the kiddo.

Dowdy, west lake

Still lots of good ice in the mountains! Stagecoach has got great conditions currently, 18" of ice with packed snow on top. Granby is 12" of ice. By the weekend some slush will appear but we got 10 or 12 days of good ice on most lakes up here, green mt, wolford, etc.
