Found a contact number, gonna give the guy a call tomorow and get some info. Guessing he's the owner of the pit. His name is Howard, 204-346-3111.

Sorry tibbs42 it just seems like everyone on this site is razzin on PFB and NCFB and it pisses me off, sorry for being so defensive over the kids wanting to better themselves, all they want to do is learn more about fishing. All is good then....no panties in a knot...it's all g-strings...just joking!!! Have fun guys!

Let us know how you make out - I would like to give it a try out that way.

Lafarge is not private property, it's Crown Land. Go have fun, I've never had any problems being out there no matter what season it is. I have even spoken to NRO's, Park Patrol Officers and RCMP Officers out there without ever having an issue, when the big sand piles were being flattened I spoke with the heavy equipment operators and no one ever said a thing about trespassing.

You can see 40 feet down!?

NCFB, you can't see 40 feet down at the ponds. That's just too deep. But you can easily see about 10 feet max with a shelter. If youre just fishing on open ice then the glare is too much and cant see much past the ice. Unless you lay on the ground like the other guy said and cover the hole with your face and arms.

Lafarge in summer is probably the clearest water I've seen in the south with the possible exception of George and Westhawk. I talked to Howard at Blumenort last week, he discouraged me from coming out unless I wanted big trout, as fishing was very slow.

He also told me it was really slow, nice of him to be so honest tho. Would have been just as easy to say "yea come on down, fishing's great!" Will be checking out Lafarge next saturday and maybe blumenort on sunday.

Yes its open to the public, don't let my comment about being chased away stop you, unless you do what I did and drive around the signs saying the road is close because of high fire risk. It turns out they really, really mean it ;)

Was out there once a few years ago with a buddy.
We came upon 2 older gents fishing with 6 lines out!(open water season)
We informed them this was illegal and they quickly
pulled the extra 4. ;D

Yep, it is that kind of stuff and the backwoods campers who like to keep a pan on the fire so they can keep catching because they don't have their limit yet ::)

There are fish in there, but not much worth catching

Nope not your comments at all SI, it's the people who think they need to call ahead to gain permission to access the area I was commenting to. I' too know all to well how eager conservation is to give das boot during a high fire risk time. @)

I agree Howard is a really good guy. Fished there quite a bit last year. There is some huge Rainbows in there. He was saying last year there were a few 26" pulled out of there, as well as a 28" just before ice up. But yes it is slow.
Go fish.

I was working in the Ross area on Monday, I drove down to the North Entrance to Fire Road 13. It was not plowed, there were tracks from sleds, quads, and it looked like a truck went through there. I don't know how far he made it or if he even made it out! The snow didn't look that deep, if I had been there with another 4x4 I would have driven in a ways to see how it was with my dodge. Whether you could make it or not, I don't know, I do know the North entrance is further to the pits than the South, but I was closer to the North so I thought I would take a look. I will probably be out that way at the end of March, and might try it then. If someone else goes I would love to hear about it. ;D

isnt it simple math... theres 6 lines in the water... between to people... so they decide to pull up 4 rod... which would be only 2 remaining...

as for only me fishing... yes i fish with 2 rods per person... i believe there was a miscommunication factor there... maybe tone it down before taking a pathetic swipe at someone...        if u wanna fish with 1 rod each... togo... do you need to go back to school for adding and subtraction again....   thanks for your uneducated input though

You've definitely got that right, I was in no way taking any shots at you. ???
