A fisherman went thru the ice today at Banner marsh

I was out for awhile this afternoon on Banner Marsh and about 400 i hear cops and sirens, 20 min later a helo landed, as i was leaving the helo capt told me 2 men were on the water fishing, 1 made it out the other had not been found yet, still under.

That is terrible news to hear for sure...Be careful with this early ice fellow Illinoisans!

So sorry to hear of such a tragedy.  I have placed a link to the Minnesota DNR website . It has a lot of good information on ice safety.

The website is an excellent resource and the  DNR will allow publication of this information by simply requesting it.

Thoughts and Prayers go out to the family, can't imagine going through that. We've had some cold weather around Peoria but with the snow we've had on top of the ice the lakes are still iffy. A buddy tried Sunday on his lake but with the weight of the snow on the ice he was standing in water after a half an hour of drilling holes.

I just can't imagine! I as well have a fifteen yr old that is my ice fishing partner.

Please everyone be careful, nthats a terrible tradgety, can't imagine how that father feels now.
If fishing is a sport are we considered athletes?
