  oops!!
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Had a great time yesterday at Loomis.  Left with 26 keeper gills (threw back at least that many).  Hey High Flags, is the 25 flags you and John had yesterday your personal record?  I have to admit you done well but maybe you can explain how you can troll completly across the lake with a tipup!  It sure got windy. Later and good luck.

Awesome pics High Flags!!! You certainly lived up to your name! What were you using for bait? Have you ever had any luck using small gills for bass on a tip up?

Thanks Crappiehunter, We were using old county bait's famous shiners, maybe its all that fungus growing on them from those foul looking minnow tanks they have.   I have tried gills or perch with no luck. Golden roaches are the best if you can get them. Also sucker minnows followed by shiners.

I REMEMBER WHEN I BOUGHT SOME REPLACEMENT BLADES THEY CAME WITH A COUPLE OF SHIMS THAT LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE TINFOIL. YOU WERE TO PUT THESE INBETWEEN THE BLADES AND AUGER. NEVER TRIED IT BUT GUESS IT IS WOTH A TRY. TAKE FOIL AND FOLD IT ABOUT 4 TIMES MAKING THE FINAL PRODUCT ABOUT 2 INCHES LONG AND 1/4 INCH WIDE. THAN MAKE ANOTHER ONE 6 FOLDS AND SO ON. GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS, MAY SAVE YOU A FEW BUCKS TILL NEXT YEAR. IMO.

the ice was SOLID...we were fishing in front bay out from the boat ramp...4 inches thick in most spots there..drilled a hole a few feet out from where we were and the ice started cracking and popping and it was only at 2 and a half.....good tip for the auger abishop..my buddies auger we took out was just spinning on top of the ice and would grab hold..lucky for us the guy who was next to us let us use his auger to pop a few holes..other wise we would have had to call it a day...

I'm heading out this morning if anyone wants to join me. I think I'll try the front bay instead of walking through the woods.
