We're still planning our 7th annual trip to the Gaylord/Atlanta area the second week of February. So far it's a go...but we'll see.

IN 2019, we didn't start fishing here until Jan 17th and we fished until March 8th. 2020 we didn't get out until Feb 9th. But we only had 3 weeks. Still hoping for ice.
Thank you Lord for thinkin bout me. I'm alive and doin fine!!!!!!

Newly retired and enjoying the ability to devote as much time to hunting and fishing as I want ( A Lot)...pluss I have a bunch of new ice equipment I am dying to test out..still hoping for safe ice soon.

Last year my 1st.trip on Gull Lake,2nd. bay was Jan. 12. 10 days later we were fishing the main lake. In both instances,we were the 1st. ones out, on both areas. We had a solid 3". Thats not going to happen this year, but a few cold days will lock up the south end. We usually dont start fishing the main lake until the 1st. week of Feb., so we still have time.

I'm right there with you. This weekend is the start of Tip-Up-Town. Sorry but with all the warm temps, I don't trust that ice. Bummer!

Most of my plans involved the Saginaw Bay, but also included Houghton Lake and possibly trying Long Lake.  But my new plans are to sit at home staring out the window at the Spring conditions, pouting, and being mad at the Farmers Almanac for getting my hopes up with all this talk of "Unreasonbly cold and snowy winter" talk.

Good luck on da hardwater , but i don't eat anything that comes from da Clinton / Huron River watershed. PFAS & merc. levels are high & there were 2 different spills into it over the summer. Every pike i spear from those waters goes in da compost pile.
Dam shame a fishery w/ good population is inedible.

Hadn't ice fished the Bay in over 20 years.  Finally have a son that is the right age and wants to learn ice fishing.  Slowly built up the gear to make a run at the perching grounds.

Sigh.

Might hit Houghton this weekend to get him out on ice.

Dont post much, but you know that you are now putting PFAS/Hg compost in you garden... thats PFAS and Hg in your veggies.

As far as the topic of this thread, I am screaming climate change, but I'm probably just a brainwashed young'un. Got out once at Christmas and once last weekend.

10 of my friends are heading to Escanaba this Thursday through Sunday to fish on Little Bay D’Noc. We rented a log cabin house right on Lake Michigan. The latest report was 12 inches of inch, the fishing was fantastic especially the walleye. People were limiting out every day. We’ll see. No ice in the lower so may be the only ice fishing this season. We tried Higgins Lake 2 weeks ago and it wasn’t safe.

Good work Zink!  Nice fish!

I was wondering, the log cabin you guys rented, was that right on the lake?  Something where you could drive a snowmobile/ATV right onto the ice at?

Thanks!

Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, the house is right on Little Bay D’Noc. We had 8 quads and a Polaris Ranger and we drove down a hill on the property right to the lake.
