22' - 23' Palooza
« on: Dec 28, 2022, 03:27 PM »
Finally made it out this morning. Fished with a few friends. Thanks Mark & Lee .Abit breezy out of the SW. Drilled 2 holes 7" of solid ice. Slow start. Then it was chow time. Not fast & furious but I stayed in one hole and managed to catch a mess for dinner. Gills 8-9" and perch went 12"

Ventured out yesterday for one last go around before weather messed everything up. Meet up with some buddies. Thanks guys was a fun time on the ice. Bite was slow, fish were finicky and fussy about what you put in front of them. Had to hole hop alot. Did manage to land a nice mess for myself and a family that loves fish. Will be waiting to see what this weather brings in the future.

It was a great day polecat. Ended up with a nice bunch also. It was a tough bite that’s for sure. Hopefully we’ll get ice again soon so we can get back out.

Done some investigating yesterday on some lakes. Few anglers have ventured out but not many. Did find some safe ice. Decided to give it a try early this morning. Fish were difficult to locate, tight to bottom and very snoopy. Color was a major factor. After 8 different colors found one that they would hit every once in awhile.

Polecat, how thick was the ice? Was there any variation in thickness as you were pokin around?

Ice was thicker at bank, most what I found was 4" the area I was fishing. Not much variation. Just hope it stays cold in the evening.

Had to give it another shot this morning. Chilly & Windy had the fish tight lipped. Found fish tight to bottom in 16' - 18' f.o.w once again really snoopy. No crappie today only picked up 13 gills. A few were nice 9+" others ran 7-8". Was a rough bite but still educational.

Good job! I only got two mediocre gills and two small perch. None of which were picture worthy,Lol. Got new locator this afternoon so I’ll have to figure out how to use it tomorrow. Hex

Well before the 50 degree tanktop & daisy Duke weather I hit it one more time. Went out jigging for Bass and a few tip-ups. No runners on tip-ups, but did manage to get a nice mess of Bass. 3lb and the biggest went 5lb 90z.

Nice mess of moss backs! Hey thanks to you and R.S. for guiding us to that spot last season. When we met up there this season that was my most productive day! Fished 7 days this season and one day getting a few tree rats, all with great guys and good times! That's ok you all snuck a few dinks in my bucket. They ate just fine. God bless!

Dinkgetter was a good time. Always enjoy my fishing time with friends. As for the extra fish, RS and I try to help out when we can. Hate to see you and family go hungry. LOL

Was a fun & productive, short lived season. Glad everyone stayed safe this season. Until next year my friends. Ice gear is put away and boat is ready.
