Ice Fishin' Texas

Down here at La Casa del Whacko in Beautiful Downtown Spring, Texas, just across the sewage canal from the creosote factory, it's goin' down to 14 F tonight so tomorrow my back yard bird bath will be frozen.

Cuzzin Cletus will be here about 0630.  We'll load up the Smitty and drag it across the yard to "Lake Bird Bath".  After we get our hub shelter set up we'll use our 4160 V Ion, (Everything's bigger in TX...), to drill a dozen holes, five each for tips up and one each for jiggin'.

Of course, on an expanse of hard water like that the Big Buddy will be fired up from a 30 pound propane tank, (wouldn't wanna run out in this weather!).  That should keep the shanty warm and also cook up a big batch of squirrel brains and lambsquarter.

Man, I sure hope they're bitin'...

It was so cold that I had to follow my dog around.  Every time she squatted to pee I had to free her by breaking the yellow icicle holding her to ground.  My cat is a lot smarter.  Stuck her nose out the door turned around and headed right for the litter box.

It got so cold here once that the words froze when my neighbor and I were talking and we had to bring them inside to thaw so we knew what each other had said!!!

That's one I've never heard of before.  On a funny note,  I can remember quite a few years back we saw a big old Caddy with bullhorns on the hood, Texas registration and, a couple pair of skis on a rack on the trunk.  I spoke with the guy when stopped at a highway gas stop, he was looking to go skiing in Ontario.  This was the middle of June and he had no idea it got so warm this far up north.  I told him, you might want to try Alaska at this time of year, he didn't think it was funny.

Ever since I moved to Texas I've wanted a black 66 El Dorado coupe w/ longhorns on the hood and a horn that played "The Eyes of Texas".

I'd dress in my best Blues Brother's bib & tucker, includin the hat and ray-bans, hire a 22 year old smokin' hot "escort" in a skin-tight micro black dress and go clubbin' in Ft Worth...

Never had the money for the car... or the escort...
