Well BP,  if you're on Sodus on the 23rd, I'll be on my little pond at least a week earlier. The 16th? Wow I hope so.  ;)

Right after Christmas, southern ADKs. You won’t catch me on less than 4” of ice.

You boys work on the ice thing for mid December...I LIKE it...!  But I have to be patient this year.   :-\

Mamma and I are headed to Florida to see our kids/grandkids for the holidays...returning New Years Eve...so hopefully we're all fishing by then.

Ice, Baby, Ice...!

I predict that if we have conditions like the last 2 years, I might go insane or just sell my stuff and buy a airboat.

I said the 15th for which I still have hope, but it does not look likely. May have to readjust my wish list. Probably Tuesday I'll be giving my canoe a maiden voyage where it was locked up a week ago.  Kinda stinks.

Last year was REALLY early on the lake I fish and it lasted all winter but it was kind of freaky ....its a relatively small lake and it was so windy. that while we were fishing on 6-8" of rock solid ice in Dec, the middle of the lake a couple hundred yards away didn't freeze until February ....we would be fishing and watching open water within sight.....

I saw much the same. My favorite pond never had more than 5" and it only lasted a couple weeks with open water scary close to 4" of ice  As you say it was a very strange winter

I am usually able to get on ice around me just after southern muzzleloader season ends. Makes for a smooth transition. Hate to be that guy but not looking good this year. Looking more like back to bird hunting for a bit longer for me

I predict I'll be perchin' out of the boat Saturday. No sense in dusting of the ice gear for a while in these parts.

Let us know Buckski   My freezer is full and we donated one to the disabled veterans group of Fulton-Mongomery co.  Put my rifle away today. Tearing down 5 tree stands tomorrow. Now I just want ice.

Got on today in the Adks, earliest I have ever been on the ice. Only managed 1 perch. But it felt great to be out there

Man!! Tough brake on the extended forecast. I predict I will be running out of perch/walleye fillets before I get on any ice in my neck of the woods anyway. I didn’t even buy any new ice gear this season either… I promise. No worries I have a plan. This weekend I’ll re-line a couple of my open water rigs and buy the most expensive insulated chest waiters I can find. That should be good for some skim ice at least 🤣

Looked again at the extended and I predict my boat will be in use for quite some time.

I know they are really only good for a few days out but holy crow they have no daytime temps below freezing for the next three weeks in CNY

I think the only ice I'm going to see is our annual trip to the ADK's.
Might get a few days in March on Chautauqua, but not expecting to.
