Devils Lake - Jig/Lure Colors
« on: Dec 07, 2015, 05:43 PM »
Looking at picking up some new jigs and spoons for my upcoming trip to Devils Lake. Without knowing much about the water (stained or somewhat clear), is gold the better choice for some jigging spoons or does chrome/silver work better? Im looking at the Slender Spoons. For the buckshots, I was thinking orange, red or green.

I will probably dead stick a rod with a minnow on some color jig too

From my local experience, perch and walleyes tend to like anything that is colored like a small perch

Thanks

As far as buckshot I like the orange and the green in the smaller size. Silver slender spoon with chartreuse strip.

Definitely perch colors, always good at Devils Lake. Mostly gold but sometimes silver can be good as well, especially if there are small white bass around.

Rattles are almost always better than non-rattlers. One of my favorite spoons is the BB Rattler with UV and glow. Look for them at Fleet Farm or Scheels.

Just got back form Devils Lake.  Fished with the Perch Patrol.  We used gold tungsten #8 jigs with wax worms on #4 Fireline.  Great Success!
