Catfish and Lake Winipeg

Does anyone catch catfish thru the Ice on Lake Winipeg? What about the Red River up there in Manitoba, since it's known for its big Channel catfish. You hear about it during the summer but not during the winter .

it happens on the river but more by accident.
my dad targets them the odd time, maybe 1-2max
