get together
« on: Jan 11, 2006, 07:38 PM »
Hey guys I know I'm new on the site and don't want to "over post" my welcome.  But after seeing a few of you post on a regular basis it occured to me why don't we try and have a get together on the ice somewhere.  I am fishing pretty much every weekend anyway and I would love to meet others that frequent the post, so jig over it for awhile and discuss it if you feel like you would participate...  oh, I am not the one to organize it though ;D  Kind of like a I buy you fly deal... ha ha..

LOL.  Just because you're new on the site doesn't mean ya can over post your welcome!!!  ;)

This is an excellent idea that's been talked about before in another post, no one has ever gotten anything together though...

If we all do get together, I say we should put together a list of area lakes or sloughs that would be acceptable for us all to fish.  I then say someone should be appointed to pick a lake/slough to fish.  If we are good on this, then lets poll some available dates that we can all make it and pick a date/time from that list.

My $.02.... anyone have any other ideas/suggestions?  I'm from the SF area, so can fish SE or NE as well...

I think the one in Madison is the Doug Horstad tournament.  It was on Brandt for a few years.  Always seems to have a good turnout and they give away some nice prizes.  I think the registration is at the Hillside resort on the south side of the lake, its right between Long Lake and Lake Madison.  That would be a fun one to get together at, its only like $10 to enter so it doesn't cost much.  Not sure if thats the one your talking about but I heard that one is coming up soon.

I can do the 28th at Madison if need-be... although I likely wont enter the tourny as I've never fished em and prolly never will... I'm open all thru Feb. too!

Yes,but we need to set the date far enough ahead and do a little research so that it doesnt conflict with tournies.

White Owl is east of the Black Hills 60 miles so I'm not sure hwo many would be interested in coming this far to fish small stock dams. I think a guy would have a lot better turnout if we fished Sheridan or Deerfield or something closer to the Hills. Just wanted to feel the water a little to see if there would be any interest.

Something in the hills sounds good to me.  If there were more east river interest maybe Chamberlain, Pierre or Fort Thompson would work better.  Something off of I-90.  I don't know, just throwing it out there.

I myself would really enjoy the plains.  That is usually where i end up fishing.  Maybe if we get a little more cold this week I will try Orman again.  I will be fishing Sunday and Monday so if anyone wants to go drop me a message.
