Where to buy shiners in bulk?

does anyone know of any bait shops that sell shiners in bulk (by the pound?)

We use to buy them from Toms Wholesale bait in Middlebro.

I just called Toms an there 4.50doz for med. they  dont sell in bulk unless you have a bait shop lic.....the search cont....

Nope....they only sell wholesale & you need a federal tax id #.  Nothing wrong with supporting your local tackle shop.  Granby Bait is one of the best!

Right, now I remmember the whole thing. We use to pitch in and get bulk for a annual trip to champlain. There was 8 of us that went. One of the guys owned a bait shop at the time. That is why Tom,s would hook us up.

I gave a friend on the ice a Wally that I caught Monday and this morning he dropped of
about three dozen pond shiners for my minnow tank ! 

He trapped them out of a private pond for me.
Next fall I plan on trapping my winter supply.
Nothing against the bait shops (my local guy knows me by first name) but hey, free is free!

I go up to Champlain every year with 25-30 guys.
We pre-order our bait from the local dealer.
Usually around a 50 dozen mix of pike shiners and suckers
We don't get wholesale, but they do knock off a big chunk of the bill.
Talk to your local shop and I'm sure you can strike a deal, it's a quick profit for him.

In response to Michaels Wholesale bait, I can confirm they will not sell to the public, just to the tackle shops.  We have to have permits to buy from them, and you have to apply thru fisheries and wildlife as a retailer in order to get the permit. The game wardens actually come in at least once a year and make sure I have a current permit to purchase shiners.

We have a permit to sell them, but the wholesaler has to have a permit to sell them to me as a retailer as well.  Usually, without a legitimate business that retails the shiners and has a sellers permit, the wholesalers do not sell to the public.  There may be some out there that do it, but none that I'm familiar with.  Hope you find this helpful

where are you from moose.. I'm in rhode island,any tips on traping them I bought a trap at walmart , put some dry dog food an bread in it an tried a small pond near my house ,it's only 5 ft deep ..put it in the other evening an checked it in the morning- nothing   put it in the stream that runs out, an under the road an I got 1 minni sunfish an 2 tadpoles
