Humminbird PiranhaMax 176i
« on: Jan 18, 2014, 06:33 PM »
Anyone using one of these ?

Currently running a  597i that I can move between the kayak and boat.  I was look to set that up as a portable, but once I got looking at the price of another transducer and carrying case, the price of the 176i isn't out of line, so I'm looking to pull the trigger on one.

I realize that the 176i will mark way points, and won't read contour maps, but I'm cool with that.

More concerned about people experiences seeing 1 -1.5 oz trout jigs in 100+ feet of water, and speed of screen refreshing in colder weather.

I have the 175 which is the same thing sans GPS.  The scroll rate is fine, as far as 100ft.  I can't say for sure but it will see a small jig and waxy in 30ft no problem so I don't see why it wouldn't.
I'm a man, but I can change, If I have to, I guess.
