Rice Lake

Took a short 10min drive out to check on ice conditions and I'm happy to report that there is a good 2" of ice with the exception of a few open spots in the middle where the current is stronger.   January 1st just can't get here quick enough.   Us Kawartha boys might be able to compete with all you Ottawa boys next year for first ice Crappies!

Ice shack construction is apparently happening fast around the lake, huts are just lined right up ready to go on as we speak.

Yup, lots of huts sitting on shore just waiting for the first, BJ's in Bewdley is one source for huts...will be out if this wheather stays cold. ;D

thanx for the heads up FirstFish, I plan to do some fihsing on rice this year, no idea where to start

Let me know when you want to head up.  My dad lives in Cobourg and we fish Rice a fair bit during open water.

Will do, I fish rice slot on the summer as well, but as an ice angler who will be traveling on foot, I'm hoping to find some holes I don't need to walk miles for

Managed some recon on Rice today with Chowder_Head and Airs24. We hit three different spits drilled some holes and marked lots of fish. Lots of ice and wet in some spots
