Bassboy,
I know they use trout eggs for steelhead and browns on some of the Great Lakes bays and river estuaries.

Ive never tried salmon eggs but i did try to sinking power bait stuff and didnt catch anything on them, although i didnt catch any fish on anything that day. I would assume they are just as good as open water fishing them.

I sometimes use salmon eggs and skein for trout--sometimes it works and other times nothing. Keep switching baits till you find what works. Maggots, waxies, minnows, powerbait, jigs etc.

I have never tried them myself but have read that salmon eggs when tied in a bundle (spawn sac) can be a good bait for lake trout.

I use steelhead skein that I cure myself for the trout. They love it!

Salmon eggs on occasion can be the most lethal bait for trout so I always carry them. Most of the time however I get a lot more strikes and fish with pieces of nightcrawler.
Politically incorrect, and proud of it.
