Can somebody post some links or info on where to get a harness to help pull my sled through the snow?
90% of the time I am walking out on the lake.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

If you want it to be an easier pull, build a Smitty sled.

Falling through with a harness can be a huge issue. Buddy nearly didn’t make it out few years back due to his sled being tied around his chest and pushing his head under. Was a wild day but I’m not a fan of being hooked to anything on the ice after that ordeal.

I attached a carabiner to the pull rope (I replaced the original rope) then I attach the carabiner to the the carry handle of a backpack. The backpack has the chest straps. Works great and I have extra room for more gloves and hats. It’s super quick to clip/unclip the carabiner.

You said a mouthful. I was just about to post something about the unfortunate problem of falling in with something attached to you!!

i use a 50' rope. I doubled the line up to reduce the length and after tying it to my sled, it extends about 22-24' or so in front of the sled. I just put it over my shoulder like a sash and drag away with the rope pulling across my chest. My sled with my fatfish is easily 100+ pounds and this system i have makes the drag much more forgiving then when i had a short rope or dragged with my arms behind my back. That extra distance with the rope helps gives me a buffer zone between my self and the sled too. If my spudding is inadequate, and i fall in, then there is a good chance my sled will still be safe due to it being far enough away. I also wont be tethered down to anything and can slip out of the rope easily.

I just use my tree stand harness. Works to drag deer and jet sleds too!

A spud never hurts instead of walking out blind
