The season has begun!!

I got out this morning on 4 inches of clear ice. After 2 hours without a bite I called it quits. I hope to try my luck on 2 other ponds this weekend.

Amazing! My jealousy knows no bounds. If only I didn't have a 3+ hour drive in order to get to 4" of ice. I hope you'll have better luck on the other ponds. Be safe!

Overabundance of caution. The more I move around and drill holes the greater chances finding thin ice. Staying on top of the ice was a higher priority than catching fish.

Not many were out that early. I know a couple nearby ponds that freeze early and a couple others that keep their ice well into April so I get a longer ice fishing season than most people.

Pushaw closed up last night.  Rather it stays that way considering the weather later this week is another story.  It's nowhere near safe ice but it's a start.
