Title: Phoebe's work?
Post by: falkon on Jan 19, 2005, 04:59 PM: I'm new to ice jigging. I was wondering if anybody has any experiences jigging with phoebes? Are they decent? How would you suggest using them? Also, kastmasters, do they work well? Thanks

Post by: kingfshr16 on Jan 22, 2005, 10:23 PM: I picked up a couple of Phoebes this year in gold to try and let my step dad try one today, he ended up catching 8 perch right in a row right after they shut down, its safe to say ill be stocking up on more. ;)

Post by: Van_Cleaver on Mar 10, 2005, 09:05 PM: Had a really slow day today, but just before dark I put out a Phoebe under a slib bobber. Was fooling around, trying to get the depth set, and noticed a fish on my flasher. Jiggged it a few times and wham! Next thing you know I'm icing a 12'' perch, by far the best fish of the trip. Only wish I had tried it sooner..... Next time!

The hammered metal surface help a flutter spoon like that shine nice and brightky too! 8)

All I can say is, the Phoebe went in the hole, jigged it a couple of times, and caught a real nice perch.(Tasty, too! Is that redundant?) All our ice is gone, but you can bet I will be investigating in the future. The blue and silver Kastmaster with the same hook set-up proved quite effective on a previous trip. If I can pull off another trip upstate, more field testing will occur.
