Warm and rain all weekend here. That's the second time there was a start to the  ice on the lake by my house and it is gone now. Two times! What a nasty trick.  >:(

Going down to 16 F tonight and it looks like it is supposed to be below freezing for highs for the next 5 days. Hopefully no more warm temps for a while, our snow is almost gone also. I thought we might have a nice base for snowmobile trails, not.

I hope the snow stays south, we need a lot more ice on the lakes first. They are calling for lows in the single digits Thursday, Fri. Sat. As of last night 12/18/12  5:00pm we had about 2-1/2 inches of ice out on the big lakes, more near shore. Sawyer Co.

As long as the bigger lakes stay open during to storm the weather to follow looks like we should be making ice and doing it relitivly quickly. The prediction for the weather I see doesnt show a day above freezing all the way through Jan 12.  ;D

You don't know how happy I am we missed it. I hate shoveling and snowblowing. And it usually happens on one of my days off. I end up dealing with snow removal instead of ice fishing.

Still 6 F here this morning at 8:24 am and the wind blew most of the snow to one side of the lakes. Lots of glare ice out there. Should be making good ice now. Soon will be traveling out with snowmobile :) I hate walking dragging a sled.

Checked ice near Prairie du Chien,  on Wednesday night no ice and this morning had 1 1/2 inches of white ice with no snow on it.
The area i checked is in the sun all day so back water shaded areas might have more. Should continue to make ice for the next several days. Almost there!!!!

It's about 20 here. The problem is the wind, the lake by my house has no ice yet so the waves are keeping the ice at bay. Finally have the cold, just need the wind to stop now.

Man I hate the snow I took me over 2 hrs to clear my driveway of the 5' drifts on it. But the temps look good and as long as the bigger lakes stayed open during the storm they should be making some ice quickly. :)

Hang in there, it won't take long once they skim over. Our really big lakes took 9 days to get 3" once they iced over. And that was upper teens at night mid 20's during the day.
