Post by: fishnhunt on Jan 11, 2009, 05:33 AM
I want to start bluegill fishin' now that I see you guys posting pics with so mmany awesome looking bluegills. What depth, lures and bait are the best? I jig a little bit now but only get a few perch and never get inot a big school of them. Help?

Thats a pretty broad based question because of the variances from lake to lake. But, id try to find green weeds. Fish the holes in the weeds and the edges of the weeds. Drill lots of holes and move around allot until you find them. Fish low to high in all the holes you fish as well. Sometimes theyre hugging bottom, others theyre suspended. Electronics really are a big help.

Waxies, spikes or plastics are generally the baits to use. For jigs, use small teardrops or ice flies.

Try jigging just above the weeds.
