Lots of Fresh Air
« on: Jan 30, 2023, 09:12 AM »
My son and I got lots of fresh air over the weekend.  Drowned some worms tried to entice fish to eat some trout eggs(even dropped a few scraps of bacon in the hole after a while), and picked up some minnows on Sunday in Auburn(great shop!)  Found lots of ice all over central NH.  Stopped at a small pond near Concord in hopes of catching some Crappie but absolutely nothing on Saturday.  Sunday we had a little more luck.  Four flags before we had one that gave us hope for the next time we travel to this lake.  The fish took out just about all our backing before it decided to stop.  Brought back memories of fishing for pike.  We had a veteran fishing next to us from the lake coaching my son the whole time.  We eventually eased the fish to the hole but as the fish got to the hole it dragged the leader onto the edge of the ice breaking the leader.  That fish got pretty big as the day drew on.   :-\  I told my son we'd catch it derby weekend!  Good luck out there and stay safe.

Sounds like a great weekend... Funny how the fish that come unbuttoned grow and grow as the day goes on lol.

Nice report, great to see the youth getting outside away from the influence of electrical devices.

Time well spent
