Cheshire... will it hold up?!?!

Looking to fish Cheshire Sunday, the weather looks like it’s gonna be sloppy. And this warm weather has done some substantial melting I assume.

What’s everyone’s input.... besides the obvious answer of bring a spud bar. How long before ice out in your opinions?!

I was on 8 to 9 inches today in central MA. Cheshire should be fine. I had my wheeler out today

I dunno - like the last week of March prolly. You are way ahead of the ice melting game. There must be at least 14” there now

Edges are often soft there, but there are a lot of edges. pick one

When the edge gets soft , bring a plank . I don't understand why more people don't. If the edge is really bad like 4' of open water I'll go elsewhere. If it's just really soft or only open a foot , 8' plank works great 👍2x10 rough sawn full 2" thick.

A plank and muck boots are a must if you ice fish. I've had no issues with soft edges or slush all year I just walk through it all. I genuinely don't understand it, such a simple problem to work around and yet so many people would rather stay home or complain.

I have seen some creative ways to make 2 - 4' planks into an 8' plank .

That's the plan for Spring.
Gotta have something to tote kayaks or my fishin'  buddy (son) is gonna leave me behind.
