Title: How much ice is left?
Post by: farmerev on Feb 25, 2021, 10:39 PM: Does anyone have any info about ice thickness in Nabnassett in Westford or A1 in Westborough? I want to get out on Saturday and brave the rain, but I don't feel like falling in.

I bet the larger lakes starting in central MA are becoming weak. I would only focus on maybe smaller bodies of water. I drove by a few ponds in central MA and the edges are starting to go. If you decide to venture out. Take that spud bar with you and chip away every so often to check thickness. I would also only fish ponds you are familiar with. Ponds have culverts going under roads and moving water in some places.

Post by: rally on Feb 26, 2021, 07:43 AM: I walked out on Keys Pond in Westford yesterday around 1:30 . The edges were fine , didn't show any sign of bad ice and had about 1 inch of slushy ice after you kicked it with your foot. Last Sunday there were pickup trucks on Long Sough For. Again, you should always check. Were there's an inlet it will be weak , but normal.

Post by: wardo888 on Feb 27, 2021, 09:15 AM: Was on A1 about 10 days ago. Probably about 4-6” I’d say, dead center of the pond. Might be iffy now but just my 2 cents. If we didn’t get all that snow we’d be fishing for 3 more weeks at least.
