hog island whats going on do you live right on the island. I can not believe that the bait shop is not doing the shanties anymore. Did they sell them off to the farm? I used to live on that farm years ago and the house right across the street and down the road on the other farm.....jim s

the family that owns lakewood campground bought out the shanties a few years back they have their own access area now too hogs island bait has a few shanties but mostly for their family we have probably a dozen shanties and are planning to build more for this year  last time i heard there was little ice and the shanties will probably be on right after new years if all goes well

I've been going to Holiday Harbor the past few years.  Fishing has been O.K. always managed to get at least 1 pike > 8lbs but slow at times.  Nice shacks  & if your traveling you can rent a room there, clean & with a kitchen.  Never have to go on the the road at all.  They have had decent bait but I don't know how the new regs are going to affect that.  The Owners are good people.  I would definitely recommend it

I agree with sdog.  I rented a shanty  at holiday harbor for fifty bucks for the day and it included wood for the woodstove.  We caught 5 Pike and a few perch.  Nice people to do business with.  Great experience.  I Am planning on ging back this year.  Holiday harbor is located on Grande Island.  Bait selection was a bit poor.
