Marmish Gear
« on: Oct 16, 2007, 09:42 PM »
Lonewolf's post earlier today about the video clips on www.marmish.ca were all I could take, I'm finally going to try this system out this winter.

I figured I'm kinda clumsy and they can't be all that tough so I ordered 6 strike indicators for when I break a couple of them.  Anyone have any suggestions of other things that I should maybe pick up to get my panfish domination underway?  I'm mostly curious about what type of line to start with for mostly perch fishing in semi/clear water 12-18 feet deep?

I just made a starter order:

Ultra sensitive bite indicator #3 - 423009 x 2
Ultra sensitive bite indicator #5 - 425003 x 2
Ultra sensitive bite indicator #1 - 421005 x 2
Marmish Max Rod - 405005
Barley #2 - 517210
Drop #3 - 502315
Drop #3 - 502322
Larva #3 - 510327
Larva #3 - 510310
Ural #2 - 524218
Chort 72 #2 - 872210

Good luck breaking the strike indicators....they bend back easily.
You got my favorite larve #3 on your list ickirby. Maggot is good too ;)

Glad to hear, it's not like I can get them replaced too easily.

Any suggestions on the line of choice?

I tried them last year (or year before?) and found I caught smaller fish....  quite possibly I was missing these smaller fish on standard rods... but honestly - I'm ok with not catching those smaller fish...

I found the sensitivity an advantage for very small fish, but for the size crappie I'm typically fishing for, I find I do better on normal size rode/reels... or maybe that is just my comfort zone and I fish better with normal rods... who knows... haven't given up on the rods - and  I do like the jigs...

Question- the "chort" jigs- do they dangle? I don't see a way they can be in "tune" (sideways)

they are meant to dangle, if you go to the marmish site and watch the videos they are using a chort in the pike video for a while
