I do not know much about whitefish.
i caught a 7 pounder thru the ice last year on lake simcoe while fishing for lake trout.
is that big.  it sure seemed big to me.

does anyone know how big an average lake simcoe whitefish is?

In Simcoe they average 3-5 lbs and the lake record is around 14lbs.  A seven pounder is defiantly a good size fish. Must have been fun, big whities can take out line just as good a big laker.  Did you get any pics?

Hi Guys,

Here is a pic of my daughter holding a big 6.5lb Lake Simcoe Whitefish she caught with me last Feb.  I have taken them bigger our there where the back's of the fish start to hump and they get thicker through the body.  The average size of the Whitefish in Simcoe has increased over the years and believe it has something todo with the incredible forage base that exists in the lake.

Take Care,

Greg.

Hi Jacksmelt71,

I have been fishing some inland lakes approx. 2.5hr north of Toronto and have done well on Whitefish up to 4.5lbs.  All the big ones I get including my biggest (7.8lbs) were all caught in Lake Simcoe.  Here is pic of some nice ones I got in the Northern lakes a couple of weeks ago.

They are sure alot of fun to caught.

Regards,
Greg.
