North Hero Snow
« on: Feb 09, 2011, 07:02 PM »
Does anyone know the snow conditions on the lake in north hero? Was wondering if it is firm enough to drive a wheeler on? Or is it fluffy deep snow. If I was to bring a sled would I be able to move or just sink and dont move? That is the problem we are having down here thats why I ask. Thanks alot for any and all info. Tight Lines Coming up next thursday.

Not fluffy deep snow, more like nasty deep slush, should bring hovercraft.  Maybe if will freeze up.

Depends on where the winds have blown the snow.
I fished The Gut last Saturday before the storm and it was a leg burner for sure.
Knee deep snow over 6" of slush for several hundred yards until you get way out there and the wind blew it almost clear in some spots. Other spots had in blown or packed down to a few inches over even deeper slush.
Ice was 10 - 15" inches under all that mess.
Hopefully, things are improving.

Was out north of there on Sunday. The snow machine was working hard but made it out 2ml. with two of us plus shanty and xl jetsled. The snow was heavy and settling. Now we are in a cold snap I would imagine conditions are improving.

The cold nights tightened up the slop a little......If you see a plowed road out there or a path in the snow please don't drill holes in it.
