Good suggestion Perfect Hook Set.

I have been asked by a number of CT members why the R&C board is utilized so little. I don't know the answer. I am gonna ask that if you have ice conditions or a fishing report you intend to share with the board, please make a post on the R&C board. You are still welcome to mention it in your post on the main CT board.

Even a quick " There's 6" in front of the launch, don't know about the rest of the lake" is good information.

If you don't see your lake, let me know and we'll post it on the R&C board.

Look at the bright side, your post count goes up with each R&C post, everyone can be a Team IceShanty Maniac in no time!

I hope that's the case.  It only seems fair to everyone that actually contributes to the forum to have it this way.

The R&C board is just what it says it is ,If everyone posts their findings on that site instead of here its much easier to find, its the way they do it in other states the way the site was designed to work,Then if you do not find the lake information you are looking for ask on reg thread.

I think there is a way to sticky all of them which you could do in abc order
OR
Using that thread keeps things more organized here.

To me its more of the question "why not use it."

Next time you go to cwood let me know how many fish you didnt catch.

I'm fine with keeping the ice conditions forum separate from a main board. It's a good idea that I've started using from now on. The flood of "how is?" posts (and duplicates) does bog down this side, and gets annoying early and late season (sorry). I used to organize an ice conditions thread on another site for the same reason.

But since we're a small state, I'm all for still posting reports here if nobody objects. Technically, if we posted reports, and every question about equipment, etc, in the proper IS forum, this one would be pretty quiet. And then we really wouldn't get to chat as much, and get to know each other. It's worked fine for years.

Curious how everyone else feels? This forum is growing, and we now have a fearless leader for guidance. Just throwing this out there.

What I am seeing is a lot of guys posting about one place then people asking about others (not saying I never have.)
This fills that persons thread with posts about other places etc.

It would be much cleaner and easier for people to just click on what ever lake pond res they want to know the ice thickness of bam date and ice thickness with basically a couple of clicks.

We may be in a small state but, we have PLENTY of water that people fish

Why not just use IFCT for general ice talk and reports.

When I helped run another site (not fishing) I tried to keep it as clean as possible for new and old members.

I may not want to read through an entire post or for that matter thread to find an ice report.
Heck I may know a lake pretty well and just want a simple ice reprt.

sorry for the jumbled post

For the R & C  board the posts should look like this:

Fished Lake X today.  9 inches of ice with 2 inches of snow on top.

That's it. If you want to add how the fishing was that is fine.

On the General board you can start a Lake X B.S. thread where you can chit chat about fishing, cooking, dressing in the latest fashions, etc...

This way people can look at the R&C board for quick info on ice conditions with out having to read 20 posts of B.S.

what also happens is (i do this too) is people dont always put where they fished.
Whether is because, they dont want to share or just forget to toss it in (what i end up doing)
Then someone will say where did u go
Person will say lake x
Then how thicks the ice
blablah and often enough you will get the occasional did u try lake x whhich is near lake z where u fished hows the ice there

This board is too big for that, on small boards no big deal but, it seems like this site / ct section gets a decent amount of traffic.

R&C
Lake x 5in black ice today (or yesterday)
link to report goes here

this way if you're interested in the post and hadn't yet seen it the links there for you to click on

I've added a number of lakes to the Reports & Conditions Board as requested. If I've missed any let me know.

It would be most helpful if when requesting a new lake you could provide the following info:

Lake: Name & town(s)
Max Depth:
Size:    Acres
Species:

Providing the above info will allow me to post it much more rapidly than if I have to research it. Thanks.

Can you please add Wrights cove in portland and Doolies in Middletown. Also; I second that it would be real nice if these could be in alphabetic order.

If you click on the "subject" tab at the top of the lake list it will alphabetize them. I'll try to get the other lakes up for you tomorrow.

I've got a copy of "A Fisheries Guide to Lakes and Ponds of CT" eiderz. No research needed. Not sure if the Anglers Guide has all that.

I'll lend a hand to start supplying that info if you're willing to go that far. I can simply reply in each body of water thread, and you can edit the OP when you have time. Feel free to delete the post when you're done.

Anyone else is welcome to lend a hand as well.  :)
