Sorry, tried to post a couple other pics but for some reason the same pic comes up. The crappie was 12" and the biggest gill was about 9 & 3/4. Slow day but it was really nice to be out.

I caught a few too! Syracuse lake has about 4" of beautiful clear ice that can be accessed from the beach. Plenty of room for all. Caught bass and gills.
Going out tomorrow too! Don't know how to post pics, seems like a lot of work, will put a video on youtube tomorrow.

Please be careful out there. You make it sound as if the whole area is safe.
With this last couple days of high winds and now freezing rain and then rain, with the ground frozen, the runoff will open springs. AND there has been open water and water kept open all week by geese. So don't take anything for granted. Good luck.

No way syracuse is safe. It has huge open holes in it yesterday. I would not be surprised if it is not half way or more open water right now with all the rain we had today. The area of the lake I checked yesterday was not safe so there is no chance that is safe today.

The channel I was on yesterday had 4.5 to 5" of good clear ice. Seems like that should be safe enough for anyone. I caught a mess of Bluegills and brought them home.
