That is one heck of a hook set on that poor bluegill!!!  :roflmao:  Better have your drag set light or use some pretty beefy line with that or you will have alot of breakoffs.  That hookset looks like Denny Brauer setting the hook on a flipping stick!!!

Here is the one I built about 2 weeks ago . I have had it on the ice twice . I had bass minnows on both times and never got a bite to see how I was going to work . When I made it  so I can change rods and fish for smaller fish too.

Not the best pic. but It is the only one I have right now.

My brother has a store bought one (Bass Pro $30 something) and he went 3 for 4 with 2 pike and 1 walleye last year up in Wisconsin.  I was kinda skeptical at first but after seeing it in action it inspired me to make my own for like $10.  I'll post a pick when the Polyurethane dries.

Nice rigs... If the guy in the U tube video was fishing in 3 FOW, he could probably put a bucket next to the hole and when the gill came flying out, it would land right in the bucket. ;D I can guarantee he's not using thread!

Dont forget your safety glasses. If for some reason that jig isn't in the fishes mouth when she goes off that could put an eye out.
There is only one theory about angling in which I have perfect confidence, and this is that the two words, least appropriate to any statement, about it, are the words "always" and "never."

Hightide,

I dont think you would have to worry about that for crappie,  unless there is a limit on a bucket full of lips.

Fish Blaster 5000.... Lol thats funny.  In all honesty my kids may one day fish with something like that.  Walk out on the ice setup the Fish Blaster, and out of the chute comes vacuum sealed fillets.  It would be humane, That way the poor fish don't have to suffer a whole day bouncing around in a 5 gallon bucket staring at a bit set of buns sitting on top of them.  Can you imagine.... What a way to go.
