first day out on the hard stuff bout 3.5 inches of hard "black" ice, some decent bows too

You should really use photobucket to host your pictures. Sharemations sucks @ss!! You only get like 5kb of uploads or whatever and then you get your pics red x'd. If you upload them on photobucket, that won't happen.

Sweet deal man, those are some nice fish. I am glad someone is making it out onto the ice. You are in Sask? Where abouts are ya? Must be lot's of fishing available for you. Those are some nice size fish. I really like the colors on that last one.

How do you tell the difference between a small splake and a giant brookie, they both would have the same colors, would they not?

a forked tail is a dead giveaway brookies have bluish spots and splake as a rule don't. there aren't any lakes with both around here either so that makes it a little easier.

Awesome pics......were you on a bog type pond in the first set of pics? There is one at my uncles camp that has trout in it......but i wouldnt know how to go for them through the ice.

yep is low pine bog , bottoms out at 50ft or so fish em with flies all summer and dodger fly rigs and tip ups.

a forked tail is a dead giveaway brookies have bluish spots and splake as a rule don't. there aren't any lakes with both around here either so that makes it a little easier.
That's right a brook trout has almost a square tale while a splake is forked like the lakers.
Nice set of rainbows. That is sure some clear ice, I can see the bottom in that one photo.

splake have a forked tail from the laker and generally are bigger than brookies

all fish caught on tullibees in 8 fow on tip ups, smallest was 30" biggest was 38"

Nice looking pike, meadowpikeman, are those guys from Tobin lake?
It seem all the pike I have caught in Tobin are like yours they have a steel blue tinge to them. 8)

wow that perch is as fat as can be taht pike is a monster i hope you let it go or am mounting it :)

that pike would have to be a lot bigger for a mount but was released as it was in the no keep slot hopefully get a big one yet this winter

Nice fish Pikeman! That's the way to end the season. :thumbsup: Looks like you were one of the first ones out in Nov. and now you're one of the last ones in, you gota like a season like that. Some of those pike are nice and fat! I'll be looking for more pics of those first ice splake next fall. :tipup:
