I'm a die hard white tube man, I have used everything else and believe that the tube is untouchable.  If you leave a little space a the head between the lead head and the tube you get a more realistic "death spiral" which seems to really trigger aggressive hits from the laker's.   When I see a fish on the vex that is following the tube but not committing to hitting, I switch to a pimple and try to trigger a more finesse bite from the trout.  If it is legal in your area use a small minnow and hook it so it tucks in the tube just to add some stink to the bait for the "curious" trout.
Set the hook and keep your line tight!

Wow I snoozed on this thread, I love rapalas any size they make, any color pattern, to me its there action that pays off, Try jiggin one just below the ice too see for yourself sometime, next to working a streamer or wolly bugger on a fly rod there is nothing better and they are just fun to jig , especialy if you can catch lakers in shallow water like 10 foot or less you can watch them smash it, just this past weekend on more than one occasion I watched multiple Lakers fighting each other over the jig it was to say the least hysterical. Don't get me wrong they are not a sure thing and if Jigin Raps aren't working I put a pimple or a buzz bomb on, but, for me Rapalas are in a class of their own when it comes to jigging for Lakers. If you work them right you can pop the jig 3-5 feet from side to side you have to watch your line closely when doing this, when done right you can hop the jig around in a 4 to 5 foot circle on the bottom they catch a lot of attention from far off distances.

I suggested a made in B.C. world famous lure for catching trout.....and many other species of fish....(salt and freshwater)....Kris chooses to ignore the so called southern part of his province for whatever reason I dont know.....amazes me that someone would ask for the #1 go to and post nonchalance.....anyway s...the Chrome Buzzbomb is dynamite for trout.......salmon color is also a good one....take your pick for sizes...they all work......just remember to retie after a successfull haul.....p.s. they work the best without being tipped........they werent designed for any other way.....Grump
