Hey guys hope everyone made it through the summer with some of their sanity while waiting for the hard deck season to come (I haven't). I just wanted to see if anyone has gone up in the uinta's and seen if ice is forming or if it is there. Ive been watching the weather up there and its mid-high 30's in the day and 17-single diddgets at night and early morning. IM ITCHING TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please let me know if you know anything planning on going up on Sunday for a drive and would like to know previously what i will find.

That's definately some ice making temps. I'm sure there's a skiff somewhere up there

Those temperatures do sound pretty good! I will be down in about 10 days. Might have to bring some gear and bum a ride. ;D

was up there yesterday 10-13. all the small ponds were freezing and staying mostly froze all day. the bigger lakes are getting ice on the edges. the biggest lake that i seen that was almost fully capped was clegg lake. it was just a skiff but there was ice all the way across. its cold up there!!! i would guess early early November if weather stays like this.

I've heard of a few from Colorado but have not seen them myself. D87 you should put that up on the ice pic contest here

so i made it up on 10/15 and 90% of the lakes are fully caped over with 1in of ice. I will upload pics later if i remember when i get the chance.

I went back up today and all the ice is gone. lakes have been blown open and the wind was still ripping through the trees today. Hopefully we can be on ice in two weeks. i thought with finding an inch last week on all but two lakes there would be 2 inches up there but the wind had other plans. it was in the low 20's when i got up there and no ice to be found. >:( >:( >:( ???

I was hopefull that ice would stick around but we all know how mama nature likes to tease us here and of course she didnt change her plan this year :-\

its definitely cold up there. was up there Friday afternoon and water was freezing on my fly rod eyes almost instantly. shouldnt be long thats for sure. hopefully the snow storms stay away just long enough to hike into a few lakes for some ice fishing ;D

Thanks for keeping us posted on conditions in the high country! As soon as I hear you guys have ice, I will take a trip up into the Big Horn Mountains and check it out as well. Definitely will post some pictures of some nice little Brooktrout!

Joe, did you end up getting your Laker from last year all doned up? Where is the pick of that?

Still in the oven. Those taxidermy guys that are good are busy boys. They also get in plenty of hunting and Fishing as well.

Heading back up to see what it looks like in the morning if there is open water or hard deck. taking both set ups up with me so i can still fish. hoping for the best tho. Please be iced up!!!!! is there anyone that can shatter my hopes before i go so i know what to expect?

slush on top of the lakes but no ice it will all freeze this week with these low temps coming up. the snow up there is getting deep. I made it up before anyone else and before the plows and had to make it through about 6in of snow that fell last night.

Thanks for the report CL89. Ya that looks like the snow is starting to stack up. I belive your right, the lakes should cap with these temps

no they do not plow it through the winter. they close the gate and stop winter maintenance early December.
