Not talking numbers, or fish under 13". Just the BEST perch caught this season. No old pics either, we've seen those already!
I haven't broken 12" this year... :(

Sounds like a good time!

Nice fish guys! Townie don't feel bad, I haven't nailed a real jumbo this season. My best has been just under 12''. In my defense I have been fishing gill and crappie lakes for the most part.

That's a 12" knife.

Lotta fillets wowza. I'd be scared to harvest 13"+ fish in my spots. It'd be a dinkfest for years...

Nice looking fish!

It's the exact opposite for perch on most lakes. If perch become too numerous their average size decreases and the dinkfest begins. The lake on which I was fishing is 12 miles long and receives almost no fishing pressure so taking some big ones doesn't hurt the lakes perch population. I do agree though, harvesting big walleye/pike/or other sport fish is a no no.

Had some jumbos.
from this weekend

Maybe on your lakes, but I fish smaller waters which couldn't sustain harvest of the largest fish in the system. But if you're eating 15"s and they remain to be caught each year; you've got a ideal spot! Not a lot of water which hold such jumbos here, Cape ponds produce giants but can be decimated easily. I'm all about harvest & keep 12's whenever possible, my fav. panfish fillet.
Keep the jumbos coming guys!

Both had our self imposed 10 fish limits of similar fish yesterday at first light in 45 minutes. Been fishing this spot for many years with similar results, thankfully.

very nice, especially knowing how hard you worked at getting a good jumbo this year!

Only been out half dozen times this season. Worst showing for me in many years... At least I hooked one true jumbo.
-
My mistake.
Man, I thought I was the only one that let life's events get in the way of ice fishing. Didn't used to be that way...
Personally, I made it out 5 times this year. Not good but not my worst winter either-which was last year, two times. This with back yard lake putting out new state record perch regularly lately. Now it's over for this winter here. Oh well
If you ever want to make a trip to Idaho and pound some awesome perch, give me a shout. I've invited Taxi1 and JT to no avail yet. I would free room and board you and anyone you bring, as well as share some local knowledge-thou it doesn't take a lot of skill to clean up on jumbos here. (offer always stands for you other two as well)

On the bucket list bro. Thanks for the kind invite. My fav. quarry varies from year to year, but perch have a special place in my heart. Especially the ones that you have to dunk your hand to retrieve; as they often bind up in a 6" hole lol
