I believe that the transducer has died :'( but not 100% sure. need to find a qualified individual to help me figure this one out.

Kurt - Start by telling us the symptoms, so we can prescribe something.  Probably Whiskey.

it was working fine for a few hours and then I noticed the color display was getting smaller by the minute until it just had no color bands showing, shut it off for a while and turned it back on and it ran good for a while and the color bands diminished even faster.  Now if the transducer is bad would it still be clicking???

Sound more like dying battery or needs brushes.

Doesnt sound like a ducer. Next time the color goes away see if the ducer is clicking. Sounds like battery, or maybe brushes/motor.

Sounds like you need new brushes.

Battery is obviously the easiest and sounds like it could be.  Especially if it works after shutting off very briefly.

If it needs brushes, its time to go out to pasture.
